The Canadian Consulate General in New York City is one of ten Canadian Consulates General in the United States. The Canadian Embassy in Washington, D.C. is responsible for our overall bilateral relationship with the United States. Each Consulate is responsible to cover specific areas in the U.S. The New York City office covers the eastern part of New York State, the states of Connecticut and New Jersey and Bermuda.
Services available at the Consulate General include:
- Consular assistance to Canadian citizens residing or traveling in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Bermuda.
- Immigration and visa information to individuals inquiring about immigration, and visiting, studying or working in Canada
Business Development
- The Trade Section. Through the Trade Commissioner Service we offer six core services which include: Market Prospect, Key Contacts Search, Local Company Information, Face-to-Face Briefing, and Troubleshooting.
- The Investment, Science and Technology Section encourages corporations in the U.S. and Canada to consider: technology transfers, research and development, joint ventures/strategic partnerships, greenfield investment and financial investments.
- The Economics and Finance Section provides information on general economic, financial and fiscal developments and policies in Canada and the Canadian provinces.
- The Political/Economic Relations and Public Affairs Division (PERPA) explains and promotes Canadian policies and issues to local constituents, manages media relations and the Canada Program, and interprets local U.S. political and economic events and trends of interest to Canada. The cultural and academic subdivisions promote respectively Canadian artists and arts and the study of Canada at academic institutions.
- The Research Centre is a reference and research source for business people, the media, researchers, students and the general public.
