Many factory settings use paper manuals and live demonstrations to teach the use of equipment. Manual pictures do not always give an accurate and realistic view of equipment operation, nor do manuals and binders fare well in a manufacturing environment. Multimedia is an efficient and cost effective method to teach operation procedures.

The Model Factory Multimedia Simulation is a multimedia model of workstation #2, the CNC mill, of the Red River College model factory. The model is intended to teach students the safety and operations procedures for the CNC mill. A comprehensive set of safety instructions are followed by three video demonstrations of the workstation. The framework is in place to continue the model for the other five workstations in the model factory.

Multimedia Simulation Model can be used as an automated self served basic training tool.

Due to budget and time limitations we could not embed virtual reality concept and could not cover all six workstation operations for CNC mill.
