| Abstract | Rutgers scientists have discovered four new diterpenes found in marine organisms (specifically, soft coral). These molecules have the remarkable ability to induce apoptosis and may have clinical utility as chemotherapeutics. Transcriptional profiling in human breast cell lines shows that the pathway for inducing cell death is unique and occurs through the mTOR pathway. These molecules represent a novel class of potent anti-cancer agents. | |
