Short Description
Abstract

Extract of swamp milkweed roots (Asclepias incarnata) is a novel, highly effective, safe appetite suppressant with well characterized bioactive pregnane glycosides. The extract sends a signal to the hypothalamus of the brain that tells the body it is no longer hungry. It:

  • food intake, body weight gain, and adipose mass;
  • delays gastric emptying and increases intestinal and colonic transit;
  • modulates activity in the vagus nerve and CART satiety peptide expression in the brainstem;
  • has demonstrated results in rodent models;
  • is safe. Historical use by Native Americans for respiratory and other ailments;
  • has a commercially viable source. Plants cultivatable, fast growing, propagated by seeds and cuttings.
