Description

The next generation mobile communication systems, such as MIMO, allow the estimation of channel parameters in a multipath environment.
The proposed method uses these parameters to build a geometric reconstruction in order to easily and accurately locate any type of device.

Potential Applications

Mobile cellular network: mobile device positioning; customized building
Sensor network: sensor location requiring only a single sensor
Medical: remote sensing: ultrasonic positioning; biomedical devices for the seeing and hearing impaired
Tracking: radar tracking, signal detection and estimation
Safety: accurate personne location even in an urban environment. In the case of emergency, faciliting such services as 911.

State of Development

Univalor is seeking partners to support development leading to potential commercial deployment through a licence.

Testing

Only 3 multi-paths are required to reach the FCC requirements for E-911!

Additional Information

This technology is subject of a US Provisional Patent Application entitled "LOCALIZATION OF A TRANSMITTER SITE WITH RESPECT TO A RECEIVER SITE USING MULTI-PATH SIGNALS" Publications are available upon request.
