Auxiliary drive device
|
| | Quick description: |
| Typically, vehicles that are able to tow heavy loads such as trailers or recreational vehicles have large engines, such as trucks or sport utility vehicles (SUVs). When the load is removed, less engine power is needed for regular transportation, and large engines will tend to operate less efficiently, resulting in poorer fuel mileage and more pollution. In order to overcome this, there has been a great deal of investment into more fuel efficient engines and hybrid vehicles, but these are still very costly solutions for today’s drivers.

An auxiliary drive device that has the capability to:
-
Enable small to medium sized sedan vehicles to tow a heavy load without any engine modifications
-
Inexpensively convert combustible engine vehicles to hybrid vehicles, enhancing the existing engine power with the device’s battery power (rechargeable through regenerative braking)
-
Increase fuel efficiency by adding extra power only when needed, such as on ascents or carrying heavy loads
-
Tow loads independently, with the addition of a trailer component, when a towing vehicle is not conveniently available
-
Inexpensive retrofit of existing vehicles;
-
Retains value of existing vehicles;
-
Does not modify existing vehicles.
-
Consumer automotive market
-
Inexpensive retrofit of traditionally powered vehicles (gas/diesel)
-
Hybrid vehicle market - retrofitting
